I always say that a good day in Lanzarote starts with a good breakfast. Whether it\u2019s before a surf, a walk among the volcanoes or a quiet day of work, I like going to places that serve good food and are run by people who care about what they do.<\/p>

These are some of the places I return to again and again.<\/p>

Oppa \u00b7 Costa Teguise<\/strong><\/p>

If you ask me where to find some of the best speciality coffee on the island, I\u2019ll probably send you to Oppa. It\u2019s a small, carefully designed place with a breakfast menu that never disappoints.<\/p>

They serve toast, burritos, homemade pastries and coffee prepared with real care. If you come from a city where good coffee is easy to find, you\u2019ll feel at home here.<\/p>

Alava Suites \u00b7 Costa Teguise<\/strong><\/p>

Not many people know that you can have breakfast at Alava Suites even if you\u2019re not staying there. You do need to book in advance.<\/p>

It\u2019s one of my favourite breakfasts when I want to take things slowly. The setting is beautiful, the service is thoughtful and everything is prepared with a lot of attention.<\/p>

This isn\u2019t a typical hotel buffet. It\u2019s a much quieter and more personal experience. You choose your breakfast from a menu the day before, then the women behind Alava prepare it themselves using homemade food and local ingredients.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Ginory \u00b7 Arrecife<\/strong><\/p>

Ask anyone from Lanzarote about a well known sandwich and Ginory will probably come up in the conversation.<\/p>

They\u2019ve been making sandwiches for as long as anyone can remember, and for many people they\u2019re part of the shared memory of several generations on the island.<\/p>

Don\u2019t expect a modern interior or an Instagram brunch. You come here for a good sandwich that\u2019s simple, filling and without any fuss. Sometimes that\u2019s exactly what you feel like eating.<\/p>

Ant\u00edpoda Coffee \u00b7 Arrecife<\/strong><\/p>

Antipoda has created something that barely existed in Lanzarote until a few years ago. A speciality coffee shop with a strong identity, closely connected to surfing, design and the island\u2019s contemporary culture.<\/p>

As well as serving excellent coffee, it\u2019s the kind of place where it\u2019s always worth sitting for a while. You can read, work or simply watch the pace of life in Arrecife.<\/p>

Although many people know it for its tapas, I mainly go for one thing: the tortilla.<\/p>

For me, it\u2019s one of the best in Lanzarote. Soft in the middle, freshly made and perfect with a coffee before starting the day.<\/p>

Some breakfasts are carefully put together, while others are simple classics that always work. This is one of them.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

One last tip<\/h4>

If you\u2019re going out for breakfast, try not to rush.<\/p>

A good breakfast isn\u2019t only about eating well. It\u2019s also about sitting for a while, talking to the people who run the place and starting the day slowly.<\/p>

As with restaurants, I always try to recommend small independent businesses, family projects and people who have spent years working to offer something different on the island.<\/p>
