On 28 August, we organised a dinner at Cohombrillo winery in Tinajo.
Our friends from The Chopping were visiting Lanzarote and staying with us at Garage La Santa, so we decided to do something special. The idea was to celebrate this year’s harvest, bring a few friends together and open some bottles of Eamonn and Laura’s wine.
To prepare the space, we worked with Lanzarote interior designer Ismael Sosa. Together, we transformed the winery with a setting inspired by French dining tables, using materials and produce found on the island. Pumpkins, fennel and other natural elements became part of a simple decoration closely connected to the surroundings.
Curro Quirós from The Chopping was in charge of the dinner and created a menu especially for the evening.
The menu
Figs from the Cohombrillo farm with goat’s yoghurt from Quesería Rubicón and anchovies from Lastres.
Marinated Lanzarote bluefin tuna with roasted avocado and coffee oil.
Salpicón with carabinero prawn from La Santa.
Grilled Lanzarote bluefin tuna with a beurre blanc made from cider and Cohombrillo wine, served with vegetables from the farm.
Adri’s flan with balsamic vinegar and salt from the island.
It was a beautiful and special evening for everyone. A small, relaxed dinner among friends, with plenty of laughter, a playlist prepared for the occasion and several bottles of natural Lanzarote wine on the table.
All the ingredients were sourced from Chacón and Huerto Canario in Arrecife. Anything we did not buy was provided by local producers and farmers. We tried to use ingredients from the island wherever possible.
We hope to organise more gatherings like this in Lanzarote soon. Quiet evenings that bring people together to share good food and enjoy projects created by people we admire.
