One of the questions guests ask me most often is where it’s best to shop for groceries during their stay.
If you’re spending a few days on the island, my recommendation is simple: do a big shop right after you arrive, and then fill in the gaps throughout the week by buying from small shops and local producers. Not only will you eat better, but you’ll also be supporting people who live and work in Lanzarote year-round.
Here are the places I usually shop when I’m on the island.
Chacón · Arrecife
I always recommend starting here.
If you’ve just arrived in Lanzarote and plan to cook during your stay, it’s worth heading to Arrecife to do a major shop. Prices are usually much better than in the village supermarkets, and the product selection is huge.
For me, it remains the most comprehensive supermarket on the island. You can find practically everything you need for the week here: meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, local products, and anything else you might require.
Huerto Canario · Arrecife
If you’re looking for quality fruit and vegetables, this is one of my favorite spots.
Huerto Canario works directly with a network of small-scale farmers from Lanzarote and the rest of the Canary Islands. I really like their philosophy because they prioritize seasonal and locally sourced produce, helping to bring the work of local farmers—who often lack direct sales channels—to market. In addition to their physical store, they put together fruit and vegetable boxes and offer home delivery. It’s one of those small projects that is well worth supporting.
Finca Chinijo · Soo
This place holds special meaning for me.
Marco, one of my best friends, runs an organic farm very close to La Santa where they grow vegetables and fruit and produce eggs. Whenever I can, I try to buy directly from there because, beyond the quality of the produce, I like knowing who is behind the food I’m eating.

La Tienda de Lourdes · Soo
When I need to pick something up during the week, I almost always end up here.
It’s very close to La Santa and stocks a great selection of fruit, vegetables, and local products. Personally, I prefer it to making a quick run to the village supermarket. The service is always warm and personal; it’s one of those small shops that still maintains that traditional, friendly way of serving customers.
Almacén del Queso · Altavista
If you’re the type of person who comes home from a trip with food packed in your suitcase, this place is a must-visit.
Here, you’ll find a spectacular selection of artisanal cheeses from Lanzarote and the rest of the Canary Islands, along with other gourmet products made by small-scale producers. Whenever I want to bring a good cheese to friends or family, I stop by here. It’s a simple way to discover the exceptional quality of Canarian cheese and support those who continue to craft it using traditional methods.
EcoVenta · Arrecife
Another place I highly recommend if you plan on cooking during your stay.
EcoVenta specializes in organic products and sources its fruit and vegetables from certified farms in Lanzarote—particularly in Teguise and Yaiza. In addition to fresh produce, you’ll find legumes, grains, dairy products, preserves, and other organic foods. It is a project that has long been committed to bringing the island’s organic produce closer to consumers.
My recommendation
I would do a big shop at Chacón on the first day and then try to buy the rest of the week’s supplies from small shops like Huerto Canario or La Tienda de Lourdes, or directly from producers like Finca Chinijo.
I believe a key part of traveling is deciding where we spend our money. When you shop at a small business, a farm, or with a local producer, you help sustain that way of life in Lanzarote. And for me, that is one of the best ways to get to know the island.
